About Your Project: Hi! My name is Harshada Chauhan

And these are my teammates:

Niharika Harne & Divya Singh.

We attend Dr.Vishwanath Karad’s MIT World Peace University.

Our project title is:

**End-to-End Encryption: Data Privacy Using RSA Encryption.**

Let’s look at a brief overview:

Enormous amounts of data are sent and received over the internet every day. A lot of this data is private: banking details, personal information, biodata, etc. This data must be kept private for each individual’s security.

So, to tackle this problem, 3 scientists, Rivest, Shamir, and Adleman, created RSA Encryption.

Our project seeks to explain how the RSA algorithm converts text into ciphertext. through the RSA algorithm.

Curious? Let’s look at the working principle behind our project.

RSA Encryption relies on the creation of a public key and a private encryption exponent.

Using modular arithmetic and Euler’s Totient, we can generate a ciphertext (the encoded version of your original text) with the help of the encryption keys.

The security of the RSA Algorithm is determined by how big the numbers are. The bigger the numbers, the harder it is to crack, because the calculations would simply be too complex! To tackle this, we’ve used an Arduino UNO to handle the computing for us.

Let’s look at the components of our project and their functionalities:

| Sr. No. | Component/Item Name | Description | |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| 1. | Arduino UNO | The microcontroller is the brain of our project. Handles the computing and stores all necessary values needed for calculations. | |
| 2. | I2C LCD | Displays messages instructing the user to enter numbers, and finally displays the ciphertext. | |
| 3. | 4x4 Matrix Keypad | A keypad allowing users to enter their desired numbers to generate the encryption keys. | |
| 4. | Switch | To control the power supply, we turn our project on and off. | |
| 5. | 9V Battery | The power source for our project. | |
| 6. | Breadboard | To connect all our components without soldering. | |
| 7. | Jumper wires | To connect the remaining components. | |
| 8. | Instructional Worksheet | Due to the constraints of using a 16x2 LCD, we’ve put a more detailed step-by-step explanation of the RSA algorithm on a worksheet, taking the user through the process as they interact with our hardware setup. | |

Now, I’ll take you through the experience we deliver to users and the underlying working principle.

| Sr. No. | What the user does: | What the Arduino UNO does: | |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| 1. | The worksheet instructs the user on the basic principle and the step-by-step process. Firstly, the user switches the setup ON. | When the power supply is turned on, the LCD flashes a Welcome message, and the Arduino in-built LED flashes green. The Arduino is ready. | |
| 2. | The user is instructed by the worksheet to enter 2 prime numbers. | The Arduino verifies the numbers are prime and stores them in an array. | |
| 3. | The worksheet then informs the user about the process to generate a public key. | The Arduino generates a public key using the formula p1xp2 and flashes the message across the LCD. | |
| 4. | The user is then instructed to enter an encryption exponent. | The Arduino verifies the validity of the encryption exponent and displays it on the LCD. | |
| 5. | The worksheet guides the user on the modular arithmetic involved in creating the ciphertext. | The Arduino calculates the ciphertext by taking the numeric value corresponding to each letter, raising it to the power of the encryption exponent, and dividing by the public key. The remainder of this division is then assigned a letter value, generating the ciphertext. The final ciphertext is flashed across the LCD | |

And so, we hope the user gets an understanding of the importance of encryption, how it’s carried out, and an appreciation for the data that’s encrypted and sent across the internet every day for our safety.
