Brief Overview of the Project:
This interactive simulation provides a visual and mathematical exploration of Thin Film Interference in wave optics. It allows users to manipulate physical parameters—such as film thickness, refractive index, and incident angle—to observe real-time changes in light behavior.
The Project features several key components :
-
Ray Tracing Visualization : A dynamic canvas displays incident, reflected (Ray 1 and 2), refracted, and transmitted rays.
-
Interference Fringes : A dedicated panel renders the resulting bright or dark fringe patterns based on the calculated path difference.
-
Intensity Graphing : A plot maps the relationship between film thickness and light intensity for the selected wavelength.
-
Mathematical Context : The tool calculates the path difference (\Delta), m values, and the critical and Brewster’s angles.
-
Phase Shift Logic : It accounts for the 180 degree phase shift (Due to stoke’s law) that occurs when Ray 1 reflects off a denser medium.
-
Wavelength Selection : Users can toggle between preset wavelengths (Red, Green, Blue) to see how color affects interference.
