A hands-on model showing how erosion carves valleys and deposition builds landforms, inspired by planetary geology

This project demonstrates the processes of erosion and deposition using a tray of sand or soil and a stream of water. As water flows, it erodes channels and valleys, while deposited sediments form deltas and new landforms. By comparing these results with satellite images of Earth and Mars, scientists identify evidence of ancient rivers and water activity on other planets. The project also highlights the difference between wind erosion and water erosion.
