Project: Smart Hospital Assistant Robot
Smart Hospital Assistant Robot Developed in Atal Tinkering Lab (ATL) 1. Introduction Hospitals are places where cleanliness, efficiency, and timely service are extremely important. Doctors and nurses are often busy handling patients and performing critical tasks. Carrying medicines, transporting small equipment, and managing waste are routine duties that take up a lot of time and effort. To solve this problem, we designed a Smart Hospital Assistant Robot in our Atal Tinkering Lab (ATL). This robot is built to assist hospital staff by performing simple but important tasks like transporting medicines and reports, helping in touch-free waste disposal, reducing human effort, and maintaining hygiene. The goal of this project is to make hospital environments smarter, safer, and more efficient using robotics. 2. Objective of the Project The main objectives of this project are to reduce the workload of doctors and nurses, ensure safe transportation of hospital items, maintain hygiene through a smart dustbin system, introduce automation in hospitals, and promote the use of robotics in healthcare. 3. Equipment Used Avishkar Full Kit, ER Series Brain, Robot Chassis, Wheels, Ultrasonic Sensor, Servo Motor, Jumper Wires, Battery, Tray for transportation, and Smart Dustbin mechanism. 4. Construction of the Robot The robot is constructed using the Avishkar Full Kit, which provides the mechanical structure and support. The base structure of the robot is made using the chassis and wheels from the kit. A tray is mounted on the robot to carry medicines, reports, and small medical tools. A smart dustbin system is also attached to the robot. This system includes an Ultrasonic Sensor for detecting waste and a Servo Motor for opening and closing the lid. The ER Series Brain is installed as the main controller of the robot. It manages all the robot’s functions. All parts are connected using jumper wires and powered using a battery. 5. Working Principle When the robot is powered ON, the ER Series Brain controls the robot’s movement and helps transport items using the tray. For the smart dustbin system: The ultrasonic sensor detects waste near the dustbin. The signal is sent to the ER Series Brain. The Brain activates the servo motor. The servo motor opens the lid automatically. After disposal, the lid closes on its own. This ensures touch-free waste disposal, better hygiene, and reduced infection risk. 6. Advantages Reduces workload of hospital staff, saves time, maintains cleanliness, enables touch-free waste disposal, improves hospital efficiency, and promotes smart healthcare solutions. 7. Applications Hospitals, Clinics, Nursing homes, Medical laboratories, and Health care centers. 8. Future Scope In the future, this robot can be upgraded with voice control, app control, patient monitoring, medicine delivery system, and emergency alert system to create fully automated smart hospitals. 9. Conclusion The Smart Hospital Assistant Robot is an Page 10 innovative step towards improving hospital management using robotics. It helps in transportation of items and safe waste disposal while maintaining hygiene and reducing manual work. This project shows how technology from Atal Tinkering Lab (ATL) can be used to solve real-life problems in healthcare.
